RECOMMENDED MATERIALS
MEDICAL AND HEALTHCARE — Frequently Asked Questions
What are the material requirements for medical plastic parts?
Three essentials: biocompatibility (ISO 10993), sterilization tolerance (EtO/radiation/steam) and clean production. Housing structures can use medical-grade PA/PP; contact parts are evaluated item by item according to the contact level.
What material is used for medical waste turnover bins?
Mainly high-impact HDPE/PP, requiring drop resistance, disinfectant resistance and UV resistance (outdoor storage), with thickened walls and UV-resistant masterbatch. Bin colors often follow medical waste classification standards (mainly yellow tones).
Can medical plastics be colored?
Yes, but pigments must comply with medical and food-contact regulations (FDA/GB 9685 lists); food-grade/medical-grade masterbatch and migration testing are recommended. Light colors (white, blue, green) are mainstream for medical parts.
How does radiation sterilization affect plastics?
Radiation can break polymer chains in PA and PP, making them brittle; choose high-radiation-resistance grades or radiation-stabilized formulations (with antioxidant systems), and validate impact strength and color change (yellowing) before and after sterilization. We provide radiation-resistant equivalent grades.
